2025 MFA Thesis Exhibition
Exhibition Statement
My work explores how our lives are shaped by circumstances, time, and environment, questioning the extent of our autonomy. In today’s fast-paced world, people often pursue goals that may not align with their true desires, creating a disconnect between societal expectations and personal fulfillment. I investigate the invisible forces that shape our decisions, particularly the complexities of control, agency, and constraint—especially in the roles women navigate. My drawings reflect the internal conflicts of balancing personal and professional identities, addressing the duality of strength and vulnerability.
Through visual elements like confined spaces, domestic objects, windows, and skies, I depict the tension between comfort and confinement, freedom and restriction. Graphite on paper serves as my primary medium, allowing for a process of layering and erasure that mirrors the evolving nature of identity and choice.
My work blends personal narratives with universal dilemmas. Ultimately, I seek to provoke self-reflection: How much of our life is truly ours? Through my art, I aim to create a space for dialogue about the unseen forces that shape us and the resilience required to navigate them.
